The time it takes really depends on your individual situation. The most important thing to know is that if you apply before you start your job, your Access to Work application is fast-tracked, and you can normally expect a response within 20 days.
Otherwise, employed or self-employed, the application processes are handled separately and go into different queues. For employed applicants, updates might come within about 6 months, but if you’re self-employed, it can take anywhere from 9 to 12 months to hear back.
That’s why it’s so important to submit your application before your job start date or trading date, to avoid long waits and give yourself the best chance of a smooth and timely process.

Yes of course! Whether your circumstances changed, your grant is up for renewal, or you simply have some questions, I’m here to guide you on the next steps and make sure you’re on the right track.

Absolutely! While my consultancy's primary expertise revolves around neurodiverse conditions like autism, ADHD, C-PTSD, OCD, or dyslexia, I've also successfully secured grants for individuals with hypermobility, chronic pain, stroke, and fatigue.
If your condition isn't specifically neurodiverse or one of the physical conditions I've mentioned, you're still welcome to reach out and we can discuss how I can best support you.

Absolutely, you can apply for Access to Work independently. Many individuals do successfully navigate the process on their own.
However, if you have complex needs covering different support types, or are seeking a support worker, things might get complicated.
Additionally, if your employer requires a clear understanding of Access to Work, or if you anticipate challenges from them, having expert support can be invaluable.
While applying on your own is certainly an option, getting advice can streamline the process for you and ensure you're fully maximising your grant.

Certainly!
Understanding the difference between getting capped weekly hours for support workers and successfully extending them has been my chief interest ever since I started learning about Access to Work.
While there has recently been a lot of push back from case managers when it comes to extended support worker hours, understanding the reasons behind their decisions significantly increases your success of getting the hours and hourly rates you need.

Definitely! Renewals can be very similar to new applications if your circumstances have changed, or they can be relatively straightforward if your needs remain the same.
However, if your current grant has support workers, it’s very important you go into your renewal prepared so you can keep the level of support you already have.
Renewals can also be your chance to get extra support you maybe didn’t think of in your original application, and I’m here to make sure you get everything you need.
